Today is Friday Fun-Day! I get to choose whatever I want to write about on Fridays from now on! 🙂
So today I thought I’d give you the secret to healthy skin!
We all already know that the sun can cause severe damage to our skin, causing premature aging and skin cancer, and we all know what to do to prevent that damage – a daily application of a good quality sunscreen. But the thing we may not know enough about is how to use sunscreen in order to get the full benefit from it.
We apply it, but we don’t reapply it! Sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours.
We don’t apply enough! Think of a shot glass…that’s how much it takes for your entire body to be protected.
We go for an SPF 8 instead of SPF 30 or higher! Anything less than SPF 15 is useless unless you plan to reapply it every 30 minutes. The best is SPF 50, which blocks 99% of the bad UVB rays.
We apply sunscreen after we are already in the sun! You should apply sunscreen 30 minutes before entering the sun to give it time to absorb into the skin properly.
We don’t use it on a daily basis! You should wear sunscreen even during the winter months, especially on your face! I have a moisturizer with SPF in it and I find that works best for most.
You have the ability to keep yourself from aging prematurely, so why not use it! 🙂
Summer here I come!
