Mind Your Manners Monday – Tending a Resignation

Question:  Is it ok to email a resignation?

Answer:  I am emphatic about the answer to this question! It is absolutely NOT ok to email a resignation letter to your employer.  A resignation is a formal document that should be hand delivered with no exceptions.  In fact, a resignation should be hand delivered at least two weeks before the date you wish to leave the company.  Leaving on good terms will help you with future employment at other businesses, so always handle it with care.

  1. I agree 1,000% Everything about a resignation should be done respectfully, professionally and with grace for you never, ever know when you may be working with or for that person again – or someone they know. Remember six degrees of separation is very true!
