Terrible Tuesday – How To Tip at a Salon

It is always appropriate to tip someone when they’ve provided an outstanding service to you and that includes, but is not limited to, hairstylists, nail technicians, and their assistants.  Sometimes it’s just hard to figure out how much to give, so check out my tips below:

15% to 20% are good numbers to stick to

Assistants should be tipped, too!  $5 is typically a good tip.

If you are a regular client, it is ok to waiver from the 15% to 20% sometimes.  For instance, I get my hair done every four weeks and my nails done every other week and I typically give them $5 each.

Always tip in cash.  It will be greatly appreciated!

It isn’t necessary to tip the owner of the salon if he or she has not performed a service for you.

I hope that helps you!  Please don’t hesitate to send me any questions you may have regarding etiquette, fashion, organization, or weddings!
