“Terrible Tuesday” – Wedding Etiquette Tips

  • The maid of honor should hold the groom’s ring during the ceremony.
  • The groom’s guests are seated on the right side of the church in a Christian wedding and, conversely, the bride’s guests are seated on the left side.
  • The bride always takes the first bite of wedding cake.
  • Wedding guests that are invited to the ceremony should also be included in the reception.
  • Sandpaper the bottom of your shoes to avoid slipping during the ceremony or at the reception.
  • The wedding photographer should dress the same as the guests.
  • The prelude to your wedding should begin thirty minutes before the start.
  • Ushers should arrive one hour before the ceremony starts.
  • A couple planning a candlelight wedding should notify the fire department in advance.
  •  The groom should distinguish himself from his groomsmen by wearing a different boutonniere.
  •  The boutonniere is worn on the left lapel.
  •  The pleats on the grooms cummerbund should face upward.
  •  The garter should be thrown before the bouquet toss.
  •  If a church has two aisles, the processional is on the left and the recessional is on the right.
  •  You should tip the reception bartender ten percent of the entire bar bill.
